This technical article explains the steps required to deploy NetSupport Manager with NetSupport School components.
First, you need to ensure you have registered NetSupport Manager against your Support account (you can do this in the My Support Portal on our website: https://support.netsupportsoftware.com/). This will provide you with the required installers.
Note: To ensure you can access the required files, we recommend installing all components onto a machine.
Depending on your setup, you will need to create a package containing the following files:
- NetSupport Manager.msi.
- NSM.lic (licence file).
- NSM.ini (the component file which tells the installer which components to install, i.e. Control, Client).
This file is located in the following directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\NetSupport\NetSupport Manager\Deploy
Note: The machine needs to have NetSupport Manager with the Remote Deployment Utility installed. - Client32.ini and Client32u.ini (this is the pre-configured Client configuration file).
Installing the NetSupport School Tutor/Tech Console onto machines
To deploy the NetSupport School Tutor/Tech Console to the machines, you will need to adjust the NSM.ini file in the Tutor package. Open the NSM.ini in notepad and ensure you have given the value 1 to the features highlighted below:

Tutor=1
Note: If you only want to install either the Tutor or Tech Console, you only need to ensure ‘Control’ and the required component has a value of 1.
Installing the Student
To deploy the Student component onto machines, you need to open the NSM.ini file in the Student package and ensure you have given the value 1 to the features highlighted below:

Note: The Student can be configured to use either Group Policy for the room name or the client32 file.
Within the NSM.ini file, you can create desktop shortcuts and Start menu icons for the installed component. These can be set by adding the value 1 under each section of the NSM.ini file.
