Creating operators within the NetSupport Manager Connectivity Server provides an extra level of security by allowing you to restrict remote control access to a list of specified users. At the Control, a user will be required to enter a user name and password to browse a Connectivity Server and connect to the Clients.

For example, this feature can be useful if your company works with external contractors who need temporary access to Client machines. An operator account would be created for them to use for the duration of the assignment, giving them access to the Client machines on the Connectivity Server. Once the assignment over, the operator account can be deleted from the Gateway Console, and the external contractor will no longer be able to use their NetSupport Manager Control to access the company’s Client machines.

Step one – Set an operator on the Gateway

  1. Open the NetSupport Name and Connectivity Server Console (NSConnServUI.exe) by clicking on the icon in the system tray.
  2. Click File > Configure Connectivity Server… to open the NetSupport Connectivity Server Configuration Utility dialog.
  3. In the Operators tab, enable the option Restrict remote control access to specified operators:.
  4. Click Add to create an operator account. Click OK.
  5. Click Apply, then click OK to save and apply the new settings.

Step two – Configure the Control to connect to the NetSupport Manager Connectivity Server

  1. Open the NetSupport Manager Control Console (PCICTLUI.exe).
  2. From the left-hand Tree view, select Internet Gateways. Click .
  3. When prompted, enter a name and description for this Gateway, then enter the Gateway IP address.
  4. In the section Gateway Security, enter the Gateway key and under the Username and password option, enter the credentials for the operator set on the Gateway. Click Finish.

The NetSupport Manager Control will now be able to browse the Gateway and connect to the available NetSupport Manager Clients.
