NetSupport Manager, NetSupport School and NetSupport Notify have a utility called the Deploy Tool, which can be installed with the software. This is useful in environments where you need to deploy to a small number of domain-joined devices quickly and where creating a GPO installation package could be difficult. If you’re using NetSupport DNA, the Discovery and Deploy feature performs the same function as the Deploy Tool.

In some cases, you may find the Deploy Tool (or NetSupport DNA’s Discovery and Deploy feature) reports on the Status tab an “Error installing NetSupport [The system cannot find the file specified.]” error message. This error message will appear when a remote machine couldn’t find and run the installer for the product you’re trying to deploy.

This error can be caused by the following:

  • The PCIRISVR.exe is missing.
  • The software was installed (with the Deploy component select) using a .msi version of the installer.

NetSupport Manager

  1. Start File Explorer on the machine you’re using the Deploy Tool from.
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\NetSupport\NetSupport Manager\Deploy.
  3. Check to see if the Setup.exe file is present.
  4. If the file is missing, you can manually add the Setup.exe for the version you have installed.
    • If you’re evaluating NetSupport Manager or have the latest version of the software installed, you can download the Setup.exe installer for the latest version from our website.
    • If you’re using an older version of NetSupport Manager or you have registered your licence to your My Support account, you can download the Setup.exe from the My Support area (https://support.netsupportsoftware.com/).

NetSupport School

NetSupport DNA

  4. Check to see if the ClientSetup.exe file is present.
    • If the file is missing, you can manually add the ClientSetup.exe for the version you have installed by going to C:\Program Files (x86)\NetSupport\NetSupport DNA\Console\ClientDeploy on your NetSupport DNA Server machine (or another machine with the NetSupport DNA Console installed) and copying the file.
    • If the ClientSetup.exe is missing from all NetSupport DNA Console installations, please perform a repair install to add the file to the C:\Program Files (x86)\NetSupport\NetSupport DNA\Console\ClientDeploy directory. If the file is still missing following this, please contact our Support team.

In the case of NetSupport Manager, NetSupport School and NetSupport Notify, the Deploy Tool will use the Setup.exe installer. For NetSupport DNA’s Discovery and Deploy feature, the ClientSetup.exe installer is used for deployments.
