A change has been introduced in the Windows 11 24H2 update that can prevent the classroom.cloud Student from returning the SSID name for the Wi-Fi network the device is connected to.

If location services are disabled on Windows 11 24H2, the SSID name cannot be retrieved by the classroom.cloud Student. This impacts the following features of classroom.cloud that can be configured to use/report the SSID of the Student:

  • Hardware Inventory
  • SSID settings in Privacy, Application/Internet Restrictions, Safeguarding and Power Management.

To allow the classroom.cloud Student to retrieve the SSID name on Windows 11 24H2, you need to enable the Location permission: Enable Location Access for the Entire Device.

  1. Open Settings and go to Privacy & security.
  2. Click Location under the App permissions section.
  3. Configure Location services to On to enable location access for all users and apps.
