From version 5.11.0000 of NetSupport Notify, a new option is available to allow a confirmation prompt to be displayed after pressing the emergency response hotkeys. This prompt allows the emergency response to be sent or cancelled.
In addition, the prompt can be configured with a timer and a default action to either send or cancel the emergency notification if no option is selected. Follow the steps below for details on how to apply this using Active Directory Group Policy.
- First, upgrade your NetSupport Notify Agents to the latest version of NetSupport Notify (5.11.0000) using the supplied setup.exe or NetSupport Notify.msi installer.
- Next, update to the latest NetSupport Notify ADMX template files. To access the new template, upgrade one of the NetSupport Notify Console installation machines to the new version. The updated ADMX\ADML files can be found in the following location: C:\Program Files (x86)\NetSupport\NetSupport Notify\ADM Templates\ADMX.
- The following article explains how you can apply the template files to your Active Directory Domain: How to apply the NetSupport Notify ADMX files.
- Once applied, access your Group Policy Management Console and either edit your existing GPO used to configure the NetSupport Notify Agents or create a new GPO.
- In the GPO, access either the Computer Configuration or User Configuration (depending on your setup), followed by Administrative Templates > NetSupport Notify Agent Settings > Agent Configuration > Emergency Response.
- Open the new policy: Enable Emergency response confirmation prompt.

- When this policy is enabled, the prompt appears on the Agent machine when it triggers the emergency response.
Note: The new policy includes two additional settings: one to apply a timer in seconds for the prompt to appear (default 20 seconds) and another to choose a default action at the end of the timer.
For the default action setting, you can enter either “Send” or “Cancel”, which will be what happens at the end of the set time. For example, if you have set the time to 20 seconds and the default action is “Send”, when you press the hotkey combination, a prompt appears, and after the time period is over, the emergency response will automatically send. If you change the default action to “Cancel”, this would stop the response from being sent, and the box will automatically close with no emergency response delivered at the end of the timer.
The NetSupport Notify ADMX file can also be applied using Intune policies. See the following article for further information: How to add the NetSupport ADMX template files to Intune.
