In some environments, such as some bring your own device (BYOD) environments, you may need to stop the DNA Agent from collecting data when a device is no longer on your organisation’s network (where your DNA Server is located). In this environment, it’s possible (using DNA Agent profiles) to disable the DNA Agent when it’s not connected to your DNA Server. This means if a device is taken off the network (if it’s taken home by a user), then the DNA Agent will not continue to collect data from the device, cache it locally, and then send the data at a later time when it has a connection to the DNA Server. You can disable the DNA Agent by following the steps below:

  1. Start your NetSupport DNA Console.
  2. Log into your DNA Console with a user who has permissions to manage profiles.
  3. Select the Settings tab in the ribbon and click Manage existing profiles.
  4. Select a profile (e.g. “Default”) and click Settings.
  5. Click Agent.
  6. Select Disable Agent when not connected to server.
    • To reverse the setting, clear this option.
  7. Click Save and then click Close.

Once the setting has been changed, the DNA Agents will apply the new profile settings the next time they connect to the DNA Server. It’s important to note that the Disable Agent when not connected to server option is a global setting. This means that if you enable the option on one profile, it will be enabled on all profiles and all devices will be affected.
