Within NetSupport DNA, you have the ability to configure your DNA Server to connect to your SMTP Server and send out email notifications to the eSafety team when an alert is raised.

Configuring the email settings

  1. Log into the NetSupport DNA Console.
  2. In the Settings tab, click the General icon.
  3. The Console Preferences dialog will appear.
  4. Click Email.
  5. The Email Settings dialog will be displayed, and you can configure the SMTP Server details.

Below is a list of commonly used SMTP Server configuration details:

Google Mail settings
Email Server Address: smtp.gmail.com
Email Port ID: 587
Email User Name: Your Gmail address.
Email Account Password: Your Gmail password.
Encryption Type: TLS

Below is an example of how this should look:


Office365, Outlook
Email Server Address: outlook.office365.com
Email Port ID: 587
Email Account: Office365 email address.
Email User Name: Office365 email address.
Email Account Password: email account password.
Encryption Type: TLS

There is a Send Test Message option available, which allows you to confirm that an email will be sent from NetSupport DNA using the information you have entered.

Additional notes:

  • With Google Mail, you may need to enable the option to allow less secure apps in the Google account for it to send the email notification. For information on how to do this, please refer to the following link: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255?hl=en
  • You must also ensure that the email account isn’t using two-factor authentication.
