When performing a remote control session to a Client machine, the default behaviour for the Caps Lock key is to synchronise the setting between the machines. In some circumstances, this may not work as expected and the Caps Lock key state is unable to be changed. If this does occur, there are two options available to resolve the issue:

  1. Turn off the international keyboard mapping in the NetSupport Manager Control Console.
  2. Disable the Caps Lock synchronisation by adding a registry key to the Control settings.

Turn off the international keyboard mapping on the Control Console

  1. Open the NetSupport Manager Control.
  2. Select {Tools}{Configurations} from the Control window drop-down menu.
  3. Select the configuration in use, e.g. Standard and click Settings.
  4. Go to Remote Control | Keyboard/Mouse.
  5. Untick the International Keyboard option and leave Unmapped Keyboard selected.

  1. Click OK and Close.

Disable the Caps Lock synchronisation by adding a registry key to the Control Console settings

  1. Run regedit.exe.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\NetSupport Ltd\PCICTL\ConfigList\Standard (the default configuration name is Standard. Select whichever configuration name is in use on the machine if this is different).
  3. Right-click in the right-hand pane and select New | String Value to create the following entry:
    Item Name: View\disableSyncCapsLock
    Item Value: 1
  4. Close the Registry Editor window.

With either of these two settings applied to the Control Console machine, the Caps Lock key can still be used during a remote control session to turn it on and off on the Client machine.
