How to restrict the Tutor Console to display only Student Chromebook functionality

When connecting to only Google Chrome Students, it is possible to restrict the NetSupport School Tutor Console user interface to display only the features supported by Google Chromebook Students.

Using the Tutor Configurator
From NetSupport School version 12.00, you can restrict the Tutor Console user interface using the Tutor Configurator.

  1. Select {School}{Configuration} from the Tutor Console drop-down menu.
  2. Select Start Options.

  1. Select All your students are using Chromebooks.
  2. Click OK.
  3. You will be asked to restart the Tutor Console.
  4. The Tutor Console will now display only the features supported by Google Chrome Students.

Applying a registry value
In NetSupport School versions 11 to 11.41, you need to apply a registry value to restrict the Tutor Console user interface to Google Chromebook functionality only.

  1. Open Registry Editor on the Tutor Console machine.
  2. Navigate to the following registry key location:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareNetSupport LtdPCICTLConfigListNetSupport School
  3. Add the following registry value to the above location:
    Value type: String
    Value name: UIChromeUI
    Value: 1
  4. The next time you open the Tutor Console, the features will be restricted to the Chromebook Student functionality only.

This article is advising you to modify the registry, and you do so at your own risk. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow the steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it.
